“In the final, in the last corner, we worked with the coaching staff,” Harvey said. “We knew it was crucial for today and for the rest of the championships. There’s a little bit of a bump. I felt I was able to launch myself [coming off the bump] and finish strong with a lot of momentum”

Instrumentation for Sports Science

The MMS was designed by the founding engineers of Motus for SPIN and Own the Podium in 2010 for use by Canadian Sports.  The MMS is a 200hz data logger with GPS, ANT+ and a 16 bit microcontroller.  Companion Review software allowed detailed analysis by coaches of athlete performance.  The system saw extensive use by several Canadian Olympic Sports organizations, and is still in service today.

Motus iOS apps provide real time feedback to coaches.  The apps sync data from podia data loggers with iPad video for real time review. Providing athletes immediate feedback on recent performance from the captured data enables iterative improvements in performance.  Using ANT+ wireless communication, Motus iPad apps can monitor and record data-logger parameters. Integration of Motus iOS apps into a training session enables rapid analysis of key performance metrics for fast effective feedback to the athlete. Field use has shown that providing athletes immediate feedback on recent performance from the captured data enables iterative improvements in performance. Wireless capture requires use of ANT module connected to iPad dock connector.
